RISING FROM THE ASHES OF ADVERSITY
In 2022, two close friends—brilliant entrepreneurs full of vigor and vision—made the difficult decision to leave Ibarapa. Economic downturns, operational difficulties, and the rising tide of cybercrime in the community had made running a legitimate business nearly impossible. The cost of transportation and housing skyrocketed, driven by the influx of "fast money" lifestyles. I was heartbroken, lonely, and deeply discouraged. Even my wife asked the difficult question: What's the point in staying in Ibarapa anymore?
I was already considering relocating when something unexpected happened—two of my mentees, full of enthusiasm, called to say they were moving to Ibarapa to start businesses. They sought guidance and mentorship. In their voices, I heard hope. I couldn't bring myself to douse that flame. That moment changed everything for me.
A light broke through my despair: What if I stayed, not for survival, but for significance? What if I became the bridge that connected dreams to opportunities, and despair to dignity?
That spark birthed Ibarapa Business Creations (IBC)—a movement to transform Ibarapa's economic narrative. We chose to believe that though “yahoo boys” may blow, we will grow. We will outlast crime with character, and outshine shortcuts with sustainable success. Our mission is clear: catalyze sustainable economic growth and empower local entrepreneurs by fostering a vibrant, supportive business ecosystem.
At IBC, we believe that business can be a force for good. We equip aspiring and existing business owners through practical mentorship, strategic support, and collaboration. Our initiatives include:
● The Ibarapa Business Summit - an annual convergence of innovators, leaders, and youth for empowerment, knowledge sharing, and exposure.
● GROW WITH ADEJESUBISI a monthly eat-play-learn event focused on personal development and financial education.
● Business incubation, dignitary interviews, outreach programs, and entrepreneurship workshops.
Our vision is to build an Ibarapa where youth are known not for fraud or drug abuse, but for innovation, creativity, and resilience. We are not just organizing events; we are rewriting the future.
This mission is not just professional. It's personal. We are building what we needed when we almost gave up.
